CST 300 - Major ProSeminar - Week 4

Week 4 - Learning Journal Post Set Your Educational Goals My educational goal in this computer science program is to graduate in two years and secure a job in the artificial intelligence industry immediately after college. To achieve this, I need to conduct a self-assessment and identify the steps necessary for reaching my goal. Improving public speaking is crucial since I've been a shy person since childhood, impacting my communication skills and connections. To address this, I plan to work on public speaking and actively participate in networking events like hackathons and school events to make new connections. Additionally, I recognize the importance of staying updated on evolving technology and being prepared to enhance my skills accordingly. Taking short trips to other countries for decompression and preventing burnout is something I consider valuable. Finally, to enhance my chances of securing a job post-college, I aim to participate in internships while still enrolled in col

CST 300 - Major ProSeminar - Week 3

Module 3 - Collaboration (by OLI) This week in OLI, we learned more about making good teams, different types of personalities and different type of conflicts in a team. We took two tests: one to find out what type of personality we have and the other to determine our preferred conflict style. There are four types of personalities in a team: 'Get it Right,' 'Get it Done,' 'Get Along,' and 'Get Appreciation.' I think I'm more of a 'Get it Right' person because I used to procrastinate a lot, but I changed that two years ago and now I always try my best in everything, whether it's school, work, or personal goals. Also, I found out I have two conflict styles: Avoiding and Compromising. That makes sense because I don't like conflicts, and I'd rather find solutions for the team. Sometimes I like to compromise some of my goals to achieve other goals. Week 3 - Learning Journal Post Part 1 : One area where I need improvement is in writing

Module 2 - Lecture (75 Minutes)  For Module 2 lecture, we had to watch two videos and read an article. The first video, titled "The Future Is Faster Than You Think," discusses recent technological advancements. These advances have made our lives easier; for instance, creating heat using a candle used to be hard work, but now it's cheaper and simpler. The video also mentions four types of abundance: computation, time, capital, and communication. These abundances help save time, enhance intelligence, and increase lifespan, among other benefits. Technological progress is excellent because it improves our lives. The second video, "Introduction to Project Management," explains the project lifecycle, project leadership, and how to ensure a project's success. A project has a start and end time, a defined goal, and may arise from various factors like market needs, business requirements, technological advancements, customer requests, legal mandates, social needs, or

CST 300 - Major ProSeminar - Week 1

This week has been busy with various assignments and quizzes, with the official beginning of the Cohort 19 Computer Science online program. I'm thrilled about the exciting two year journey ahead. Prior to the program's official week, our team got together to work on our team resume, a project that turned out to be both enjoyable and productive. We settled on the name 'Bit of Otter' for our team and designed a logo, deciding to focus in the cybersecurity as our business industry. In terms of coursework, this week was to know more about CSUMB and the program's background. The writing lab introduced us to the APA format, which we'll be using for our papers. Emphasizing the importance of citing external sources to avoid plagiarism, we were encouraged to use additional resources for our assignments. The first paper for CST-300 involves researching a company we aspire to work for in the future. Tasks from the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) included a pretest, reading
