CST 300 - Major ProSeminar - Week 1

This week has been busy with various assignments and quizzes, with the official beginning of the Cohort 19 Computer Science online program. I'm thrilled about the exciting two year journey ahead. Prior to the program's official week, our team got together to work on our team resume, a project that turned out to be both enjoyable and productive. We settled on the name 'Bit of Otter' for our team and designed a logo, deciding to focus in the cybersecurity as our business industry.

In terms of coursework, this week was to know more about CSUMB and the program's background. The writing lab introduced us to the APA format, which we'll be using for our papers. Emphasizing the importance of citing external sources to avoid plagiarism, we were encouraged to use additional resources for our assignments. The first paper for CST-300 involves researching a company we aspire to work for in the future.

Tasks from the Open Learning Initiative (OLI) included a pretest, reading assignments, and a few short quizzes. OLI reinforced the need to master teamwork skills, acknowledging that while teamwork can be challenging, understanding our peers and effective communication are key to successful projects. Also preparing an agenda before team meetings is a great practice, ensuring a successful and productive team meeting.

In conclusion, I know that mastering time management will be the most important skill for success in this class, making the next two years both challenging and rewarding!
